About Me.

Here for the good vibes and just as good photos.

Hey, there. LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF. I'm Kiran.

I’m a photographer based in Sydney, Australia, although I moved here from Canada about 8 years ago. After a long career in advertising, I decided to pursue my passion for photography.

You see, I love the idea of a photograph - how you can capture a moment in time and make it a part of history.

I take a photojournalistic approach to capturing the special events and chapters in people’s lives, and I do so in a way that captures the colour (both literally and emotionally) of the moment.

Let's capture your story.

It's a story for the ages - a story your grandkids will want to hear and one you'll never tire of telling.

An accidental romantic.

This is me, Kiran. (Yes, I have one of the most classic Bollywood names, I know!)

I’m a Canadian-born Punjabi, living in Australia with my husband, 2 young boys and our two (crazy) dogs. Let’s just say, my household has way too much testosterone. Haha

My persistent sarcasm makes people not expect me to be a hopeless romantic (in the poetic sense) and an avid enthusiast of Bollywood cinema, (not to mention my minor in English literature), but ‘tis what it is.

So, it shouldn’t actually be surprising that I can’t help but smile and join in on the happiness when I’m with the families and couples I’m shooting. Admittedly, yes, I love love.

My proof to myself is that I’m annoyingly smiling and reliving the emotions while I’m editing (I get caught doing it all the time 🤷🏽‍♀️) because that’s what I hope my photographs do for my audiences.

A creative backstory.

For over a decade, I've immersed myself in a career in advertising, being surrounded by creative ideas and work from artists and professionals from around the world. There is no denying that my photographic approach has been heavily ignited and nurtured both technically and artistically by that same advertising career.

Over the years, I've been exposed to a variety of treatments, styles, techniques and ideas, all of which have shaped my approach and technique in photography. After doing photography for years alongside a full-time career in advertising, I finally decided to take the plunge and pursue photography full-on so I could do the thing I love all year.

Every couple, every family, every event, every shoot is a brand new canvas and a brand new brief. I love applying my experience, vision and approach to each real-life story to tell it in a way that brings out its authenticity and beauty and is honest to the people in it.

It's a challenge, a privilege and a damn good time!

A SPECIALTY

Big Fat Indian Weddings

If the photo doesn't give it away, yes, my family background is Punjabi (from the Northern Part of India). So, I am well acquainted with the colours, sounds and beauty of South Asian celebrations and traditions.

Not only does the photography and editing require a different approach and skill, the coordination and management on the day is a different ball-game! And I promise, I'm star-line up for this sort of ball game - it's where I shine!

So, bring on the sweets and the aunties - I'm here for the big fat Indian wedding vibe, whether it's the small gatherings at home or the massive productions.

My motto and approach

Life in full colour.

My photography takes a photojournalistic approach. I capture real couples and families in the special moments in their lives, documenting them in an authentic way, celebrating a life in full colour.

By “full colour”, I mean capturing the rich emotions of the moment, but it’s also a nod to my visual treatment – you’ll notice I’m not afraid of colour, so my photographic treatment is far from desaturated but instead, accentuates the true colours of the moment. (Although, sometimes, I do love a simple black and white photo, solely focusing on the emotion in the moment too!)

My approach to lifestyle portraits.

Real and authentic to you is the goal for these sesssions. We want it to feel honest and to paint a beautiful portrait of you and your loved ones in an elegant way.

No fancy studios - for location, we’ll find a place you feel comfortable, whether that’s your home, your neighbourhood park, a sentimental location (maybe the place he popped the question!), or your favourite ice cream spot (yay to gelato distractions!).

I want you to stay true to your style, so dress in what makes you feel like the best and truest form of you. I try to push a polished, but casual look, so we can achieve an overall effortless feel. I also ask that you avoid any bold patterns or logos, and even try to stay in a soft colour palette - we want the focus to be your winning smiles, not your clothes!

And if you’re not that comfortable around cameras, don’t worry. There’s no pressure and awkwardness - we’ll navigate through it all together so that you look comfortable and like a natural on camera.

My approach to weddings and events.

I know, I know. I keep saying it, but top priority is keeping it real.

Your wedding photos should be the re-telling of your story – make you relive the jokes, the hugs, the tears, the smells, all of it! I want to help you remember your story in its truest, and most beautiful, form.

It’s your big day, and inevitably, in order to capture your wedding day, your photographer will spend a lot of time with you, so chemistry between photographer and the couple is very important. I’m quite laid back, and love a good laugh, so will try my best to bring a sense of calm and fun to the time we spend together.

That being said, you shouldn’t notice me during ceremonies - it’s not about me, it’s about you,. That’s why my approach is not flashy, and I do my best to execute my finest stealth mode (with the exception of my random bits of sarcasm).

The Grey & Gold experience.

I'm pretty responsive so you should hear from me over email or through a good ol' fashioned phone call (I'm old school like that), where I work out what you are looking for and then send through a quote. All you have to do is accept the quote and pay a 50% deposit, and you're officially booked! Then, sit back, relax and I'll see you on the day!

Once it’s all done and dusted, I usually like to send you a quick sneak peek with a few photos within 24 hours of the session – I’m just excited as you guys are, trust me! And the complete set of photos from the session is delivered via a digital gallery a few weeks after (for all portrait sessions, family journals and events, I deliver final photos within 2-3 weeks, and for weddings, I deliver them within 3-6 weeks). If you then want to explore the option of prints or albums, I can happily work with you on those from there.

If you feel the same way about the type of family albums you'd like your great grandkids to go through one day, let's chat.
